The Best Times of Day to Tweet By Timezone

Social software company Buffer has analyzed 4.8 million tweets to determine when are the best times to tweet according to your timezone. The results of this study were revealed today on the company’s blog.

Buffer used the data compiled from its 2 million users to figure out when are the “best” times to tweet, and when are the “most popular” times to tweet.

Most popular refers to the time when the highest volume of tweets are sent, and best refers to the time when links in tweets are likely to get the most clicks.

On average, for each timezone, the highest volume of tweets are sent between 11:00am and 1:00pm. When looking at US data, the greatest outlier is the Pacific timezone, where 8:00am to 9:00am is the most popular time to tweet.

If your goal is to get more clicks on the links included in your tweets, then you’ll want to send those out between the hours of 2:00am and 4:00am. This also happens to be the time when the fewest amount of tweets are sent, on average.

Buffer’s tremendous sample size is the 4.8 million tweets sent through its platform since October 2014. When analyzing this data it looked at the number of clicks, favorites, retweets, and replies per tweet. Then it segmented the results according to time zone.
