Social Media Updates From February 2016

February was an exciting month in the social media world!

Facebook introduced an array of “reactions” allowing users to do more than just “like” photos and other content. While most wanted simply a “dislike” button, the new emotions range from love to anger.

The biggest update to Instagram was the long-awaited multiple-account management feature. Users can now manage up to five accounts without having to log in and out.

Facebook

Facebook rolled out Reactions, the anticipated extension of the “Like” button. You can now express a range of emotions —you can like, love, laugh at, be surprised, get angry, or show sadness towards a post.

Facebook announced updates to the Video Metrics section of Page Insights that will see several improvements to how it tracks user engagement with videos.

Facebook’s proprietary solution to quick loading content, Instant Articles, will be made available to everyone as of April 12th. Publishers of any size, anywhere in the world, will be able to post content to Facebook using the Instant Articles platform.

Instagram

At long last, Instagrammers can now easily and seamlessly move back and forth between accounts on the native app.

Pinterest

Twitter launched an algorithm-based timeline which will use data based on a user’s previous Twitter activity to determine what to show them at the top of their timeline.
