Despite all the criticism against Google+, there are still those who swear by it. Whether you love it, hate it, or are just plain indifferent to it, one thing that can’t be denied is the commanding presence Google+ has in local search results.
When you’re searching for a local business the local pack tends to be what shows up at or near the top, which links to reviews hosted on a Google+ local page. I know that 9 times out of 10 when I end up on a business’s Google+ page it’s because I’m out somewhere and trying to learn more about nearby establishments.
Google+ doesn’t have as many daily active users as other top social networks, but when you need it it’s very useful. Now you can make your Google+ page even more useful to searchers by pinning your most important posts at the top of your update feed.
Maybe you have a sale, a special promotion, or another big event coming up that you want people to know about — that would be a great post to pin to the top of your page so it’s the first thing visitors see when they land on it.
Google just announced this new feature, which is something that has been missing from its social network for some time. Twitter, Facebook, and other social networks have the ability to pin posts, now Google+ has finally caught up.
In order to use this feature just click the drop down arrow at the top of one of your published updates and select ‘Pin post’, here’s an example:
This feature is available right now on desktop and Android. As is customary with most Google updates, iPhone users will have to wait but pinned posts will eventually make their way over to the iOS version of Google+.
