Facebook Adds ‘Videos’ Tab to Page Insights

Facebook announced a useful new addition today that will help page owners measure the success of their videos across custom date ranges.

Previously, page admins could only track video metrics on a video-by-video basis. Now there’s a new ‘Videos’ tab in Page Insights that will allow admins to view the overall performance of all videos posted across any date range of their choosing.

In the new videos tab, admins can measure views vs. 30-second views, as well as toggle between Organic vs. Paid, Auto-Played vs. Clicked-to-Play, and Unique vs. Repeat.

By tracking these metrics over a custom time period, admins can more accurately determine how their audience views their page’s videos day-by-day.

Another important metric highlighted in the videos tab is top videos posted within a specific date range, which is measured based on reach, views, and average completion.

With this information at hand, page owners can see what kinds of videos are capturing people’s attention, what kinds of videos are holding people’s attention, and what kinds of videos their audience tends to click away from.

In addition, page owners will also be able to view metrics for videos shared from other pages. This could be a good way to test an audience’s viewing behavior using other page’s videos. That information can then be used to help guide what types of videos to create in the future based on what people are responding to

Facebook says all of the above mentioned features will be available worldwide over the next few weeks.
