New in Instagram for Business: Insights and Ads to Stories

There’s no stopping Instagram — especially when it comes to Stories. Only five months into its launch, the ephemeral storytelling feature for photos and videos has introduced several new functionalities such as links, live video, and stickers. This time around, Instagram is focusing on businesses by bringing ads and insights to Stories.

According to Instagram, daily usage of Stories has reached more than 150 million, with one in five Stories receiving a direct message from viewers. Moreover, based on Instagram data, 70% of users follow a business on the platform and one-third of the most viewed Stories are from businesses. To take advantage of this huge opportunity for growth, Instagram Stories is unveiling ads and insights for businesses.

Ads in Stories

Ads will come in full screen to Stories. Instagram is partnering with more than 30 brands — including Maybelline New York, Nike, Netflix, and Qantas — to test this new 15-second, sound-on video ad format. Businesses will be able to measure their ad’s reach and use this to better target ads for their audience.

Airbnb is one of the brands using Instagram Stories to spread awareness around their newest products. Here’s how Airbnb is using ads in Instagram Stories to promote Trips on Airbnb:

Insights for Stories

Insights will now be part of Instagram Business Tools. Those with business accounts will have the capability to view impressions, reach, replies, and exits for each of their Stories using Business Tools. These metrics will allow brands and businesses to create better and more relevant content for their audience.

According to Instagram, these features will roll out globally in the next few weeks. So brands and businesses, stay tuned!
