Facebook is Testing Recurring Donations for Nonprofit Organizations

Facebook is reportedly testing the ability for users to give recurring donations to fundraisers on a daily, monthly, or annual basis.

This feature was spotted by Jane Manchun Wong, a computer science student who has developed quite a track record of discovering unreleased features within apps.

Many of the features Wong has discovered in the past have ended up getting an official release.

So while this is only in the testing stages for the time being, it’s possible that it will be rolled out to all fundraisers at some point in the future.

This should come as good news to nonprofit organizations that rely on donations to fund their services.

Currently, Facebook only allows users to give one-time donations. The feature being tested appears to allow users to donate at a frequency of their choosing— whether it be a one-time donation or daily donation.

It’s worth noting that Facebook charges no fees for donations to nonprofit organizations. So users can be assured that the full amount of their donation will be received by the nonprofit.

With that said, only charitable organizations are eligible to use Facebook’s fundraising and donation tools. These tools are currently only available to organizations based in the US and some countries in Europe.
