Clicker.com is an Internet television site that is equal parts search engine, entertainment guide and directory all roll into one. As sites like Netflix and Hulu become more popular, cable is sort of being left out in the lurch and being seen as dying entity. Internet tv in combination with people being able to do almost anything from their smart phones has naturally lead to the development of the new Clicker.com app for the iPhone, iTouch, and iPad.
Clicker announced on their blog this morning that with the new app you can search through their databank, manage your playlist, watch tv shows and movies, “check-in” (yes, like Foursquare) to shows and movies, discuss content with other users, and much more.
According to Mashable there are 1,800 web shows to choose from and also the option to purchase about 12,000 more shows through iTunes once you’ve found them on Clicker.com (which the folks at Clicker claim is easier than searching the iTunes in the first place).
Clicker expects an iPad-specific app to launch in the next few months. Also expected soon is for the iPhone app to soon support Hulu Plus and Netflix.
